Hispanic Film Festival: Justicia Artificial

A sharp, gripping Spanish cyber-political thriller, Justicia Artificial dives head-first into one of today’s most urgent debates: the limits of artificial intelligence. The film blends noir, political conspiracy, and cyber-thriller tension while exposing the behind-the-scenes maneuvering of multinational lobbies to imagine a near future where AI could replace judges in the name of efficiency and neutrality.

A prominent judge, Carmen Costa, is asked to evaluate these new procedures. When a software developer is found dead, she realizes that her life is in danger and that she must confront the powerful interests at play in the highest levels of the state.

Bold and visually striking, Justicia Artificial stands out for its ambition and chilling exploration of who—or what—should be allowed to decide justice.

The 2026 Hispanic Film Festival, possible thanks to the Spanish Film Club Grant from Pragda and the Spanish Ministry of Culture, brings together seven highly awarded films from Spain, Panama-Colombia, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, and Guatemala. These films serve as vehicles for timely discussions that, although situated in Latin America and the Iberic Peninsula, extend to realities experienced beyond these geographies. Additionally, their cinematographic relevance and media/medium experimentation promote urgent discussions of creativity, mediation, and technological innovation. As a whole, this festival seeks to promote general themes of interrogating existing power structures and promoting an alternative lens through which to view hegemonic inequities.
