Simon Kelly, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Saint Louis Art Museum, will present Women Impressionists and the Land, the major exhibition he has curated for the museum.

The exhibition—the first devoted specifically to landscape and nature imagery in the work of women Impressionists—examines how artists including Berthe Morisot, Mary Cassatt, Marie Bracquemond, and Blanche Hoschedé-Monet represented forests, gardens, parks, agricultural landscapes, seascapes, and other outdoor environments. Kelly’s presentation will consider how these artists used landscape as a space of artistic experimentation, professional independence, and engagement with the changing natural world.
